Muelysies
The idea behind the typeface Muelysies was derived from the terms ulysses and Odysseus, (ulysses as in the Ulysses Butterfly and Odysseus the central figure of the Odyssey). This combines the meaning of an odyssey (a long eventful journey) with the positive connotations of new life, as represented by the Ulysses Butterfly. In turn, this draws parallels with the typographic world in that existing things are constantly evolving and new things are always being created. Part two of this project involved applying the typeface to a series of posters. The theme of life’s journey was continued throughout this aspect of the project. Animal based symbols were born from the existing glyphs, these symbols were then tiled in a pattern form — this continues the ideology behind the design of the typeface Muelysies.
